Ek Zuban has been established to deliver writing & performance projects in educational and community based settings.
Ek Zuban was founded in 2003 and is run by writers and performers Bob Beagrie & Andy Willoughby. They are both Senior Lecturers in Creative Writing at The University of Teesside, were co-Writers in Residence at The Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea in 2006 performing there and working with creative writing across the curriculum in many schools and have worked together successfully on numerous educational and community based projects often collaborating with musicians and artists.
We provide a vehicle for new and established writers to publish work, to gain performance skills, to develop links to the larger literary communities on a regional, national and international level, and to develop an increased readership of contemporary creative writing within Tees Valley and the North East.
Our educational and community work includes both formal and informal learning packages, and have been targeted at groups and individual mentees. As well as working in higher education at Degree level we have delivered our own mentoring schemes for the past three years for gifted and talented young writers and worked on numerous projects in schools and community settings.
